The wind blows fiercely tonight
and I can’t get close enough to you.
Who would have thought that happiness lives in the desert?
Who wouldn’t mistake this place in my heart for Babylon?
I turn my thoughts over and over.
With dry lips they say, “Come and get it.”
Touching you is electric goose bumps in sweet honey;
your smile, white-golden pearls in crimson candy.
I dive into your waters without a care.
Tears, clear and salty, are washed away.
I can feel the mountains below us.
The flowers on your tongue invite the bees.
Calm meadow grass lies still in the silver moonlight;
you whisper, “Let go your heart.”
The frantic city surges in our consciousness,
the feeling punctuated by the lonely cry of the coyote.
Like hushed cymbals we are calmed.
Lying on a soft bed of ferns among the ancient timber
your butterfly eyes powder my nose with musty aromas.
Do you always purr at the end of a dream?
