Dear God
Sometimes I feel as though
I must do something big
for you to even know I exist.
This world did not teach me
the inherent worthiness of my being.
Yet now that I know,
I willingly offer my life to others.
Today I am much further apart
from that peculiar man,
who when looking at a mountain,
sees only the timber and minerals.
Though I am cold and hungry too,
what satisfies me most deeply
is not taking from the mountain,
but giving myself to it.
