Conversation Starter

Reading is a conversation.

I want to start
by thanking this day
for reminding me
I am not the one
who sees the mosquito
and calls it death.
Rather I am one with the other,
who understands and marvels
at the mysteries and perils
of this life.

I’ve been moving my body
in unfamiliar ways,
and now those things I had forgotten,
which my body has stored,
are spilling into my awareness
and flooding the order of my life.

I’m counting on you, dear friend,
to sit at the table with me,
to taste this tantalizing food,
then tell me what you’ve learned.
