Beyond Compare

There are always comparisons,
until you quit comparing,
and until you recognize the love
which is everywhere lurking,
ready for an ambush.

You already know this
and therefore try to prepare
by opening your heart,
maybe just a little.
Then suddenly someone arrives
who you deem worthy.

But lo!
They bring another with them
to help multiply your love
in still more, unimaginable ways.

So take that wool from your eyes.
This is your great opening.
It sweetens your tea and everything else.
It warms your heart and soul
for that long journey ahead,
which is what it is,
what it always will be:
beyond compare.
