At Dawn

On a street corner in any old town
the clickity-clack and the city sounds,
Stands my fate and she’s all alone.
The blood in my veins just turns to stone
As the rusted wheels in my mind whirl and buzz.
They tell me about love and all that it does.
I try not to hear all of their crap
for my salvation lies in that lovely sap

Though the cold rain begins to pour,
I leave the dryness of my sheltered door.
Soon her name will leap from my lips.
As the music plays my hands fall to her hips.
Then in the morning the dawn of our love,
she and I will be like hand and glove.
