At All Costs
It’s Monday. Half and more of this world know exactly what I mean. Today resumes the race to nowhere, the steep climb through dense clouds, the precipitous falls into familiar chasms, and all the impatient, angry mountaineers, jockeying in the endless traffic. Monday also resumes the chant, “At all costs!”, which costs us everything, from our air quality and glaciers, to our sanity and healthy families. The race to the mountaintop is fast becoming the legacy of our so-called enlightened world. Yet we are unable to integrate the very real mystery of death, and thus the race loses its ability to convince us it holds the secret for a better tomorrow. So it’s Monday. Let us do what we must and trust we will someday be led to a place where we acknowledge it does not matter.
