Adrift
I am not alone in knowing
What it feels like to be yoked
to a partner unwilling and unable
to fully give herself to another.
Generous people share their stories with me,
their own journeys through uncertainty.
A wisdom and grace more powerful than my will
cast me far from shore;
alone I drift.
The unknown surrounds my little raft.
I fear being overwhelmed by the unpredictable current.
Then the wind whispers in my ear, “Surrender to me.”
With no course to plot, I say a prayer for life.
