A Good Sign
...a man has changed...
I tell you,
it’s a good sign
when a man is resigned
and says with a shrug,
There’s nothing else
I must do.
It’s also a good sign
if he’s eager to chat,
gives and receives hugs,
speaks when spoken to,
falls silent mid-sentence
and admits he doesn’t know.
I’d readily agree
this may seem a bit strange
to those of us grown accustomed
to loud voices and heavy hands.
Still, I assure you
it’s a very good sign
when a man stops
whatever he is doing
and asks sincerely,
What is my life about?
