You want the big boom,
the fireworks,
the huge windfall,
the standing ovation,
the sublime orgasm,
and a safe place
to store your secrets and doubts.

You will have the boom
and also the bust,
but not on your terms,
and bargaining will only
complicate matters.

What you truly seek in life
moves mysteriously,
and all the influence
you attempt to exert upon it
only intensifies the inevitable.

You will soon discover
the boom-bust cycle,
like the hurtling chaos of hell,
is no more than a pin prick
to the true self.
