We Belong

Don’t fight it.

We belong
right here,
right now.
Simply being
means something
nothingness
cannot comprehend.

Short or tall,
no matter
our gender,
our so-called race,
the religion
of our parents,
the persons
we may kiss,
how we talk,
the company
we choose to keep -

none of this matters
here, now,
anywhere, anytime
we can see
ourselves reflected
in the face of another.
