The Time for Sleep is Over

Wake up!
The time for sleep is over.
Like you I’m just a traveler.
I haven’t come to force-feed you reason,
as I cannot lead you further than I have gone.

It’s warm under the covers,
and that’s where some of us want to stay,
all day, or at least until it’s safe
to come out and face this world.

Don’t you remember how it is you got here?
First there was your dying,
then came your slow awakening.
Now at last comes union with God.

So let us wander the narrow road together,
heeding the signposts along our way.
They’ll remind us the future is not inevitable,
as we journey into a greater universe.
