The Notes
...sometimes summon the words.
This morning I feel as though
I haven’t anything profound to say,
and nothing much to share
beyond my frustrated confession.
I’ve emptied my pockets,
shaken out my shoes,
and checked under the bed.
But there’s nothing to report
beyond the expected dust,
a pebble and a lost M&M.
Yet something assures me
it’s okay to be adrift
and also a bit anxious,
or whatever this feeling is.
It’s like an unfinished song
waiting for words to be added.
Once I’ve got the notes,
the lyrics soon come.
