Something to Say
I’ve gotta chuckle,
because before I can speak
God has something important to say.
I go on and on
sometimes thinking
because the answers are so simple
I must already know them.
Even if I could take one step
in everyone’s shoes,
I would still know nothing
about the forests of wizened trees,
who’s roots have touched
more dead bodies
than I could possibly imagine.
Though all I may know
far exceeds my deep understanding,
I believe God enjoys listening to me struggle
to find the many words for love.
