Sinus Infection
Tiny spores of mold born in still water and blossoming in black mildew are the seeds of my sinus infection. Lurking in the dampness are tiny everywhere creatures just waiting for the leaves to fall or for the old air conditioner to launch them on the breeze, where, as luck may have it, they will find a welcoming home within my nasal cavities. As my throat grows sore I feel the infection descending, first through my head and then into my chest. It seems the air is thinning as my breathing becomes shallow. The vibrancy of my world is becoming muted and distant. I suffer this day while praying for quick relief and for this to be the very last time.
