Sacred Heart
Pumping blood to where it matters most.
A good day
is when I ask for no more
than the present can hold.
In so doing,
I am unmasked
as a human being,
flesh and blood,
soul and spirit,
beloved child of creation.
A coarse stone,
having long been treated roughly,
now rests smoothly and peacefully,
polished, in the palm of my hand.
No matter how hard it tries,
my potent mind
can never replace
my sacred heart.
