Quantum Mechanics

...is where entropy becomes serendipity.

A physicist can tear a hole
in my happy knowing
more easily than I can
tear a piece of paper.

Seeing the world through
a prism of quantum mechanics
untethers my very being
from this time and place,
catapulting me through
the vacuum of infinite space.

I feel dizzy,
staggered on my feet,
worried because one atom,
one electron or random photon,
may be all the difference
between me living out my life,
or spinning into oblivion.
