Push Me, Pull Me
We think it’s the small that get pushed around.
So we puff ourselves up.
Some of us peacock through life
with degrees and titles.
Others do it with big things,
like cars and houses.
Still others collect people
in a living menagerie of action figures.
I don’t want to be pushed around,
especially by a world gone mad.
But what use is it to resist?
The acorn must fall from the tree,
as the summer must give way to the fall.
The hunger of life must be appeased.
