Peace Within

Where it’s at.

Forget ever finding
a lasting peace from without.
Whatever you do to escape your life
will only confirm this simple truth.

The mountain sheds rocks
like you expend
blood, sweat, tears,
and all your precious years
seeking to become
a god in your own image.

Go instead
to where the wind blows,
where the sun burns,
where the rain drowns,
to that sacred place
where spirits hound you
and haunt your dreams.

Nothing will ever make sense
unless and until you discover
the eternal peace within.
