Mysterious Places
There are mysterious places deep beneath the waves only the fish know. My shore-bound ignorance of these watery places does nothing to diminish their fluid mystery, nor to disturb the peace I feel in letting things be… I see a boy wading in the creek. He’s turning over stones, looking underneath for crawdads and other hidden treasures. His searching muddies the water until he sees nothing, not even his feet. Now he looks to the sky, notices the birds overhead and wonders innocently: If had wings to fly, could I somehow touch the sky?
