Love Some More

Love may cost you everything,
and in that moment
you will know it as true love...

What a precious gift it is
to know the imperfection of my tiny love,
to fall into that greater love called God!

I savor this hollowed out feeling
brought on by my broken heart.
These shallow breaths
feel like being a nail
driven into the Cross,
while I struggle in the nighttime
through my denial
towards dawn and reconciliation.

In my childhood innocence I knew love,
as love knew and created me.
Then I grew older,
believed I had mastered love,
and carried it in my pocket like currency.

Laugh and rejoice with me!
Scorn my conceit and ignorance!
Tell me of your own great transformation
or be wary of your impending fall!

What my love took from me
is very real and measurable.
What God’s love has given me
is the strength to stand
and to love some more.
