Lost in Presidio
...but found by the desert.
Several years ago,
if you were in Presidio, Texas
on a dusty day in May,
we might’ve had lunch together
at a busy Mexican restaurant.
You probably noticed my blue car
and wondered how an Ohioan
had wandered so far from home.
And I probably did nothing
to hide the fact that I was lost
and glad to find a place to eat.
Could you tell it was my birthday?
And did you order the chicken mole?
I remember how good it tasted,
but doubt I’ll ever go back for more.
