It's All Right

See for yourself.

Everything is all right.
Everything will be all right.
There is nothing I can say,
nothing I can do,
to make this more or less true.

In the past it felt
like an incredible burden
to be a part of God’s creation,
while bearing humble witness
to the mysterious workings
of a seemingly random world
complicated by my free will.

Now I can no longer tell
if more and more of this life
is being wrested from my control,
or if I’m letting it go voluntarily,
shaking my head and laughing
because when I open my fists
there’s nothing in them at all.
