Into Our Sacred Space

On the other side of this mountain
the world of mankind is
	already wide awake,
champing at the bit and snorting,
	so eager to get moving.

Here the wind has died down,
save for the occasional gust
of windswept leaves.

We’ve been sleeping peacefully
on the dark side of said mountain.
Facing toward the east
we are first to greet the sun.

Later, on this new day,
we will welcome a group
from that outside world
into our sacred space.

How will they come?
What will they bring?
Who will be among them?

We’ve awakened to become
	the ones who greet them,
	the ones who recognize them,
	the ones who reassure them.
