Her Stand
For and against...
She made her stand
on a plane in Sweden,
protesting the extradition
of an Afghani man.
Here I sit
at home in Ohio,
waiting for my turn
to stand for you or
for someone else.
These days
it takes little to rip
a gaping hole in my certainty
and perhaps even less
to fill it full of excuses.
My standing may
be of little consequence.
Yet anyone shining a light
through our veiled reality
is turning the world
inside out.
