Her name was Sally Ride.
Her name was Sally Ride.
Deep thoughts she did confide.
In a song, a verse, a word;
so powerful her voice, though seldom heard.
Then came the day when she rolled the dice,
went to LA where it’s always nice.
Met some people and played her tunes;
they offered her the sun, the stars, the moon.
She agreed to put her soul out on a disc,
a successful venture, though an awesome risk.
As certain as a wanted kiss,
her brilliant talent could never miss.
Though I have not seen her since the move,
her deep lyrics still cut my groove.
And I wonder if I ever had the chance,
would she even grant me just one dance?
Now I hear people say that Sally sold the farm,
met the devil and borrowed his charm.
But most people aren’t quite so pensive,
Sally and I are both real sensitive.
