Given to Fly
A child requires no effort to be true to herself. So why would you rather wander in the night, than explore the interior mountain of your very being? In the darkness there is nothing to lean on, only things to bump against. Everything becomes a shadow and what you cannot see is looking right at you. When all your thoughts become a subjunctive— as if… perhaps… maybe… I might… could’ve, should’ve, would’ve… a light will break on the horizon igniting true faith in your heart. Later a breeze will begin to blow, into which you can lean and then take flight.
