Gathering the Sacred
We may find the sacred anywhere.
We may find the sacred everywhere.
There is sanctity within
every horrible reality.
There is suffering within
every beautiful moment.
It’s not our task
to go through this life
counting blades of grass,
labeling our experiences
good and bad.
It seems we’re following
a narrowing path,
from which we may too easily
fall away and become lost.
I don’t know whether
to pray for an opening,
or to allow everything
to simply fall apart.
Perhaps it’s time we start
gathering the sacred.
