Forever Spring

A change of seasons is upon me.
A change in heart may be further off.

As I prepare to welcome the Fall,
my own fall has already come.
So much so,
I find it hard to do those things,
which are the things a man does,
when living in his summer years.

I am confounded by my own lostness.
Could this be a real place?

Yes I know it will be all right.
I accept both the good and the bad.
And I pray daily for a renewed sense of vigor,
along with the permission to build again.

Winter seems so far away.
Still I know it is coming -
just like the sound of those train horns
growing louder,
and louder,
as the engine rumbles towards me.

Thus my life passes through the seasons.

Oh my soul, oh my soul,
you are forever the Spring!
