For Chuck
A poem inspired by his Tonka Truck.
I’m not going to resist this dreamlike poem. If it wants to ramble before ending abruptly, so be it. I can’t control my feelings and I dare not pick a fight with those benevolent spirits wishing to speak through me. So here it goes... It’s morning and I’m sitting all alone in a white tow truck. On the door someone’s painted, Chuck’s 24-Hour Service. Inside this old truck I wait patiently to respond to some roadside emergency – maybe a beleaguered traveler with a flat tire or dead battery, lost on his spiritual journey. One more thing: On the hood of the truck it says, You can count on Chuck!
