First Contact

Oh that familiar feeling!
I thought it might be gone forever.
The simple engagement -
a hello,
a how are you?
Then it’s off to the races,
the flush of excitement,
of intrigue and possibility.
I am alert and present,
already dreaming of a future
which can never become as real
as this very moment.

We had a conversation,
yet spoke not a single word.
Would that it was so profound -
we used only text and photos.
Still somehow the light came through,
in the broken letters,
and the brokenness of our beating hearts.

The soul reawakens slowly,
and a new day can come at any moment.
What should I call this familiar feeling?
A seed has been planted within me.
Thank you Lord for the coming harvest.
