At the moment of your surrender,
the person in the mirror dies.
But how big that death is
only time will tell.
Some lives are worth celebrating.
Some deaths are worth remembering –
but probably not this one.
Let the person
you once called me,
lie there to decompose.
Your task is to move on,
to continue the journey,
downward,
onward,
wherever it may now lead.
The authentic you
was there all along,
smothered beneath the old you,
patiently urging and praying
to be set free.
