Deep in the Heart of Change
When I look in the mirror I see the change I was taught to fear, and ever since have been fighting against. On my best days this battle is a stalemate. Yet the drums never end, keeping time on my steady march towards a certain death. There is no time for evolution. The change I seek requires a revolution within— the very changing of my own blood so I will not seek that of others. The fundamental error of my struggle is attributing my experience to others, or in the case of failure, not showing them the same compassion I desire for my own shortcomings. The journey towards death, through this life, is like nothing I anticipated. There are ups and downs, twists and turns, and though warned to expect it, all has come as a surprise. My god! How difficult it is for me to look again in the mirror, deeper than the depth of my ignorance into this abyss we call life. I fear I lack the strength, and even more the courage, to continue my struggle armed with only peace and love, and the patience to experience each moment as it comes.
