Cross-eyed Tired

Cross-eyed tired,
head too heavy,
stomach twisted and churning.
My routine goes more slowly today.

Why this change of pace?
From where does my heaviness come?

I’ve forgotten my dreams -
must’ve slept straight through them,
ignoring the magic creatures
who would steal away my fatigue,
leaving my soul lighter,
clear-eyed,
brighter.
