I charge you nothing for this poem. I’ve already paid the price and can’t fathom why I’d pass along the cost. You too have paid the price in reading and writing your own poetry as you experience life in the eyes of strangers and the abrupt words you spill into the streets. What we count in dollars and cents counts nothing towards the meaning we seek, except for the irony of slowly awakening once we’ve counted all the wrong things.
