Circular
On Fridays we would offer our best designs for critique. Eventually I came to appreciate thoughtful criticisms of my work. Many eyes see so much more than I can see alone. I remember one young woman, unable or perhaps unwilling to draw a straight line. Everything she created was wavy and circular. My own eyes protested. Where was the contrast? I could find no beginning or end! The repetition seemed meaningless, and with no sense of alignment I became lost and uneasy. So I complimented her use of color, for I could find nothing else to articulate from my world full of straight lines and hierarchy. That was several years ago now, and though I still impose straight lines on my designs, I have learned through hardship what she knew intuitively, life is much more circular.
