Churched

Allow it and it will happen.

I’ve never had
a church experience
in church.
And I daresay
few have.

Church always finds us
where we need to be found.

Church found me
in countless small rooms
attached to chapels
of all denominations,
where I’d sit in small groups
right beside the Holy Spirit,
which filled all the spaces
between folding chairs.

And I’ve been churched
in nature’s cathedral,
rendered speechless
by the awe of witnessing
my presence and belonging
to the awesomeness
of creation.

And I’ve been churched
while alone in the dark,
longing for something
to happen.
