Candy
When I’d gorge myself on Halloween candy my dad would shake his head and say, “You’re not always gonna want all that candy.” But my child mind couldn’t imagine such a truth. Now the stores have more candy than ever, catering to every possible taste, individually wrapped in bright colors, so challenging to my impulse control. Occasionally I’ll buy a peanut butter cup while recalling what my dad said to my child. I believe he wanted me to taste all of life, aware not everything need be sweet and sugary.
