Brian's Poem of the Day
Brian’s meta-poem.
Every so often I ask myself what to make of all these words I’m scrawling into cheap notebooks before polishing them a bit to send out in an email called Brian’s Poem of the Day. At times it feels a bit empty and at others there’s an urgency, as if my writing is a tether keeping me from being blown away by a fearful wind which would rather me not focus on the singularity of each moment within my human experience. Some days writing is easy. Some days it is hard. Either way I struggle to describe all my thoughts and fears without having to admit which ones are true and which aren't. My writing does not change the seasons, but it has shown me how to focus and to let go of my adolescent longing to live in a fuzzy, relative state of being. I can now see the waves steadily eroding my shores come from the very, very deep.
