Big Bang
I need to begin this poem with gratitude. I’m thinking now, rather than dreaming, of the very beginning something too important to call a moment, and so startling, some say it began with a bang. Or perhaps there was only silence, just before a pinprick of light punctured the once impenetrable darkness. Was there anything to carry a noise no louder than a match-strike? No matter. No matter. No matter. It does not matter. We must serve our human function which is to bear witness humbly, honestly, to the unfathomable beauty of life, and willingly submit ourselves to the widening mystery through unending praise and gratitude.
