Awe

The human gift.

What greater awareness
must be awakened
within each human being
to first notice the sunrise
and whisper silently
beautiful?

Who first ventured beyond
their own tiny understanding,
and fell into the staggering recognition
of something so much greater?

Recognizing inherent beauty
is the manifest gift of humanity.
Yet owning and defining this awe
only creates a vast chasm
between truly knowing
and an empty reality.
