As the Glaciers Recede

They are giving up their dead.
Out from the ice come their secrets,
along with ghosts of the past;
some of them haunting loved ones
for more than a century.

There is an undeniable beauty in warming,
the way it makes the water flow clear,
revealing secrets frozen in time.
Here are the answers
which have been waiting for eons
to assuage the terrifying unpredictability
of this new age.

Yes,
the glaciers creep backwards
while we lunge forward
hoping the melting blue glass
will give us more clues
to our humble beginnings.
