A Love Much Bigger
I’ve just met this man. I barely know him. We’re connected by a very thin thread. We’re in-laws of dating. Pain seeps out of him like the water I’ve seen seeping from tiny springs in the desert. I am reminded there is always water, even where I cannot see it. This man’s pain is flowing. I fear it may drown him and anyone too close to him at the time of his death. I pray for courage so that I may face the predicament of his pain without trying to lessen it. My love for him may not be so strong as his drink. So I put my hand on his shoulder and try to reassure him there is a love much bigger than any of this.
