A Fair Market Price

Our natural hormones
are not strong enough
for a culture demanding more.
But please don’t worry
just because you can’t keep up.
The capitalists turned chemists
have synthesized our being,
and for a fair market price
will deliver us sex
(without the love)
so that we may continue
to feed our plastic desires
while also helping us to forget
the promises of our youth,
as we offer a vague apology
for desiring immortality.
